"A Lady Worthy of a Museum"

b. 1992

Chicago

Visual narratives are important to me as I am telling them through the lens of a Black women of Caribbean descent who grew up on the south side of Chicago. Over the years,  I’ve learned how much I thrive by retelling personal stories through my work that make me the most uncomfortable - and selfishly, I want the viewer to feel these things with me.

My work depicts playful characters and ambiguous and expressive facial features. Visually, I use vivid colors and cartoonish figures on giant canvases to tell visual narrations of nostalgia, the tenderness of moments of solitude, femininity, desires, and the delicacies/complications of relationships. The childish quality of my work is met with feelings familiarity and curiosity at the same time for whoever can relate to.
